Colleen Jarrott Appointed to the LSU Mineral Law Institute Advisory Council

The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partner Colleen Jarrott has been appointed to serve on the Louisiana State University Mineral Law Institute Advisory Council. The Council consists of more than 30 mineral law practitioners, industry in-house counsel, and regulatory officials. It is responsible for organizing the Annual Mineral Law Institute Conference and advancing the goals of the institute through other educational events focusing on the development of mineral law.

The LSU Mineral Law Institute was founded in 1953 as an annual continuing legal education program. In addition to hosting Mineral Law Institute’s annual conference—the second oldest annual energy law conference in the country—the Mineral Law Institute also publishes a newsletter and has sponsored the publication of a treatise on Louisiana Mineral Law.

Jarrott represents energy companies in oil and gas, mineral law, carbon capture and sequestration transportation, and other industries in complex commercial litigation, transactional matters, commercial contracts, and regulatory issues. She is also well-versed in developing state regulatory and legislative initiatives related to the Louisiana Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide Act. Jarrott has served as the chair of the New Orleans Bar Association Energy Law Committee since 2017 and as President of the New Orleans Bar Foundation from 2022-2023.
