D.L. Morriss Named to the 2024 Fellowship Class and Elizabeth Heredia and Sabrina Janeiro Named to the 2024 Pathfinder Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity

February 7, 2024

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Daniel (D.L.) Morriss, a partner in our Business Litigation practice group based in Chicago and New York, has been selected for the 2024 Class of Fellows of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).

Additionally, associates Elizabeth Heredia and Sabrina Janeiro have been selected to participate in the 2024 LCLD Pathfinders Program.

LCLD was established to improve the legal profession's diversity and inclusion performance. LCLD members include managing partners of prominent U.S. law firms, as well as the general counsel of major corporations. LCLD Fellows and Pathfinders are "two of the most comprehensive legal talent development programs in the country."

As a Fellow, Morriss will participate in virtual and in-person class meetings, interact with key legal and business leaders of large U.S. corporations, and attend leadership lunches hosted by LCLD Member organizations. As Pathfinders, Heredia, and Janeiro will be given access to practical tools for developing and leveraging internal professional networks, foundational leadership skills, and an understanding of career development strategies.

Morriss concentrates his practice on the representation and defense of regional and nationwide financial institutions in commercial litigation claims involving tort, contract, and statutory violations involving complex commercial foreclosure, guaranty, and loan liability actions, as well as post-judgment collections. He has also handled matters involving UCC litigation, contract disputes, bankruptcy, and creditors' rights. D.L. also regularly represents companies in general litigation matters, such as commercial landlords and tenants in property management disputes and corporations facing internal management disputes as well as contract and tort claims.

Heredia is a Chicago-based health care associate who advises clients in the full continuum of aging service and long-term care providers, including home service agencies, assisted living facilities, sheltered care facilities, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), and skilled nursing facilities. She litigates matters brought under state and federal statutory provisions. She also represents aging service providers in administrative actions before the state Departments of Public Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Miami associate Janeiro focuses her practice on commercial transactions, particularly matters involving real estate, asset sales, and loans. She also assists clients with entity formation,  preparing corporate documents, and providing guidance to businesses on data privacy-related laws, rules, and regulations to help ensure compliance.
